The Age of Martin

At this point, it seems like 90% of the Canadian media is predicting Martin will lose. Today in Canada’s “National Post” newspaper, one editorial writer even described the Liberal Party as little more than a “twitching corpse” at this point.

If Martin does in fact lose, his term will go down in Canadian history as one of the weirdest of all time. He became interim PM when Jean Chretien resigned back in 2003, then he was formally elected to power in 2004, then non-confidence voted in 2005, and now possibly thrown out of office in 2006. It’s really quite ironic he’s had such a tragic career as Prime Minister, since back when he was Finance Minister he was considered to be this brilliant genius who would bring a new golden age to the country once he eventually seized power.
